Time wasted

I like the job what I am doing and believe on the company’s objective. I stayed because of that purpose. But then, you are under the pressure of a manager who has some problematic issues in his attitude and personal life. I wonder why he extends himself to be a manager when he himself knew that he is not a good manager. He needs to take care of himself first before he can manage other people.

Things are getting bad that working now is not possible. I will wait on Monday until I can get a hold of our HR. It’s a question now if I still have a job? Is there an option that I can be transferred to another department? It’s a possibility but there could be no assurance. If not, I will end myself unemployed.

What a day

I can't believe I make myself to stay to the job I feel not very satisfied. On the other hand, I feel lucky to have a job. Economy does going to get positive but yet you can still hear companies laying off. My company for instance and the branch where I am working. I thought there could be no lay off except for the drivers but then changes had been made so fast. Few weeks ago, our warehouse supervisor was laid off with no prior notice. I didn't know why and the only thing they could tell me they don't have a need for his position. The other side of that which made me very surprised. They hired a transportation coordinator a new name I guess while the drivers supervisor beforehand were transfered as the warehouse coordinator. It makes me feel not very happy on the side of the person who was laid off. Anyway, the new hired was okay. He seemed nice but not as dedicated like the person who handles the warehouse now.

With just having a new hired in the branch, a drastic changed appeared. While I was away yesterday and Wednesday afternoon, so much things were going on. My boss told me that his afraid of what might happen to our department. He said that there could be a change. I wasn't really sure what he meant by that until today I asked my co-worker. She said that our director was fired and our boss might be repositioned. It's not confirmed but that's just what she heard. I saw our VP and the director of the other branch. Something new that might what my boss told me yesterday. It didn't surprise me and I just kept on doing what I am doing. Our director called and asked for the other director. I didn't know what their conversation was because they quietly do their own thing. I know there could be some transition on their conversation but I just seemed to be working on my own while my co-worker do her own as well. We both just kept on observing the atmosphere. Until before I went to lunch, the director told me that she no longer be our director instead she will be doing the marketing for our department. Most of the time she will be working at home and just visit the office once in a while. Next week as what she said she will still be working to do the work for the fiscal period until then we might not see her often. Our boss will still be our supervisor.

Not much have been said there. I have not talked to my boss. I am quite busy with my report for our recycling program. There will be another responsibility that I will be doing in the next days ahead. I could be on the training to make reports for next years annual reporting. Another task, no raise. But still better to keep on the loop.

Holding on

Nothing much to tell on how things are going on with me. Nothing new and nothing more. I still have my job which I thought I could loose it but the boss still believes in me. I hope he will not change with his perceptions. I wanted to look around but reading the news unemployment rate just keep on rising and looking at ads I could only see a few. It's depressing when you want to switch job to more with your liking but with the current recession it will not just gonna happen. What's good about it is, I still have my job rather than not having it.

Performance Review

I had submitted my performance review last Thursday, Sept 11. From then on, my mind keep on thinking about how will my boss rate me. It gave me a chill every time I think about it. Friday I was off and I went out with my friend Ji-ann. It helped me not to think about it. Weekend went by fast, did nothing very significant. I just stayed most of the time at home spending quality time with hubby. Monday passed and I occupied my time doing all paperwork. I got tons of them so it really occupied so much of my time. Not to mention doing paperwork, I was scanning our database for our special spick up for the week. My mind concentrated on my job. The boss did work at home so I got a plenty of time to work on my task. And today, at 2pm I was called for my review. I don’t want to tell you all the details on the whole thing but I am very happy. My boss and other supervisor give me a positive feedback on my work and skills. I got a 15% salary increase. It’s not too bad.

Work no Play

I wish things could be fast when I am working. But when phone calls are slow time could a hell lot longer. I feel better that I have a new task at my job. Time is getting faster. I am doing paperwork with our recycling department for 3 branches so it's cool. I am happy with that. I love working with excel and numbers. That's my field and I would like to be doing with numbers. My job doesn't give me the career goals I am setting for myself but with the economy is so slow and unemployment rate is increasing I better be happy of my job at this time. I can't guarantee happiness but I can hold myself until I can find better. I hope for luck in the near future.

Change with No Increase Yet

I was shock to know last Monday that my co-worker will resign and tomorrow will be her last day. I can't say no with the new task and responsibility. I was hoping to get the increase. When I talked to my boss yesterday, my hopes failed. He told me that the increase will start 2 months from now. I could be underpaid of my other task. That made me disappointed. I thought the increase will be automatic. Too selfish of them. But hey what can I do, it's what they think it's their best decision. As for me, it's quite unfair. I will just hold on until my salary increase start and from then on I can do my job hunting. It's better that way so I could ask more from other companies or just make my last pay as a start rate. I will cross fingers. I hope they will think it twice as to how much will my increase be.

It's a Nice day

Again, I wasn't informed that Kristal will be out today. My boss just messed me up again. It was just me who did the hour on the phone this morning. Since I am already here for 10 months I know what to do and makes my work easier. It is so good to work when nobody's watching and you just intend to work on your own. Though I need much help especially it's a busy morning but I am liking it just me being alone fulfilling all the task.

It is just me and Liz today. My boss did report to work early too so I have some hands on the phone. He sent me an email awhile ago maybe he could offer some energy drink hmm that could be so yum. I need that though for I forgot to drink my vitamin.

Nothing much going on but I received some disapproval of the blogging site I join. I have to settle first on my post and will repost it again. I hope they can approve it. I have been working on that post. Til next post!

Need to Say more?

Well no. I don't have anything significant topic to write about except I am pissed at work with Liz got sick and called in she will not report to work. She always do that every month. The management doesn't give her warning seriously on how tardy she is. I hate it when there is favoritism in the company. I would say she's a good employee very hardworking but when in terms of how progressive she is with calls and auto donation. If not me being helpful to take care all of the auto schedules she must be twisted. I support her with that so she can be relax. Personality I have no against her, she's a very good person but for work ethic sometimes I got pissed.

Life After Glamour

When I visited my cousin Dennis in LA, I got a lot of good points from him. He is my mentor in some way. I looked up to his success. For years we had lost touch, but when I spoke with him 2 years ago the time I arrived here from the Philippines his still the same cool cousin that I know of. Other people would change their lifestyle here and lost their humble beginnings feeling they’re the greatest most achiever. I can’t blame them for all the good opportunities here. You can get what you want here if striving hard is your cup of tea. But at times, it’s quite awkward to see other people bragging to lots of things especially if they never really own nothing.

My cousin was a previous Hotel Manager in Cebu Marriott, became an international consultant for Hotels and came here to the US to manage Beverly Hotel. He got tired of managing the hotel. He believed there is something out there for him. He studied nursing and able to finish the course passed the practical nursing licensure. He left the hotel replacing to manage a pediatrician hospital somewhere in LA. He’s a very workaholic person doing 2 jobs to sustain some “charities” we called it for our family back home.

He missed his glamour life in the Philippines. I remembered him renovating their old house and built his experimental house. When it was done, he gathered so many parties full of champagne and great food catering service. His life was so fabulous that he always travel to ASIA here in the US and other parts of the world. It was the life he missed but when I asked him if he wanted to get back to that kind of life he said no. He said that living a simple now finds him solace and contentment. His happy of what he has and helping others give him great pride. I am so touched with that. For a day to be with him, it gives me some reality to reflect on myself too. How will I build my own contentment in life? A question I am still looking to achieve in the future.

Cooking Skills in process

Cooking is an art. It needs constant practice. You need to exert your passion and working your palate. My very first year of cooking involves lots of tears, asking friends for help, researching lots of recipes and having more days to experiment ingredients and spices. Successfully I make it but not as what I would want to. If time permits getting to culinary school will my plan in the future. I know there are a lot of culinary schools to choose from. The culinary-school-finder.com will give me more choices on what areas I could concentrate upon. I would dream to be in chef school, get all the knowledge, put it in action and let’s just see what the future unfolds for me.

Technical school

In the world of job hunting, being on top or getting the skills in one of the best school will guarantee job acquisition. Here in Silicon Valley San Jose Ca, technical school is one of the areas many would aspire to go to. A degree and have IT training can possibly get a good salary rate and enjoy a working environment. The tech schools are overly scattered by many community colleges and universities. To search for better information, go to Technical-training-schools.org. It will give you more vivid picture of the locations of different school, what it provides and could save you more time.

A twist

I was on a float yesterday towards my boss and others. For 2 days, working makes me very conscious and I don't feel at ease. Today somewhat has changed in little ways. My boss came to work at the same time when I logged in. It was too awkward to see and talk to him. So I just tried to focus on my work and did whatever needs to be done. I was just glad the phone keeps on ringing it put my trouble thoughts away.

At 11am Liz, handed me an IHOP brochure. It's my boss treat for breakfast but I already had so I go for lunch and I ordered Philly Cheesesteak. When Liz brought in the food several minutes past, we altogether ate. He wanted to spend time with me and Liz. That is good. He values my friendship and he doesn't want me to go find somewhere else looking around for another company. It was nice to feel you are valued as an employee and as a person.

Later in the afternoon, he sent me an email. He again expressed his worries on me and he really stretched and emphasized that whatever I want to do with my job to make it more pleasing to work and what he must need to do to prove to me that his a good manager. How good that could sound to you?

He said in his email that he didn't want to scare me about the lay offs and he didn't mean to corner me when he saw my resume online. He is just too concern I guess that if I leave he can never find a person like me on that position and who cares about the company and the rest of the people. I feel glad I have an importance.

Right now I am safe and able to work with them. I just hope they will continue to grow fond of me and that they will also give me other duties that I could excel on and be proud of.

Thinking about school

Working right now is great. I have a job, work with people that are nice, and a friendly environment. It’s not enough I should say to where I am now. I am appreciative of the people who hired me and it’s my great privilege to be able to get an experience and gain knowledge. Somehow, it isn't just enough for me. A part of me is looking for a better edge. The work I’m doing doesn’t co-relate my educational background.

I am thinking right now to enroll another program that could improve to market myself from the work force. I know the economy is off and it’s not a better time to quit my job and look for another one. I would not certainly do that. I would hold on to it until I can finish my school at the same time. If the company would endorse me to another department, it will be great but if not I will be looking for something else in the near future.

The field of studies I am considering into getting is medical billing or getting the accounting certificate of proficiency. The latter is much better of an option since I have a degree on that. You might ask why I have to take another certificate when I have a 4 year degree already. I just need to enhance what I’ve learned, improvise and get more skills on that. I think the years I did in school before was not pretty much too serious so I missed a lot of things to gain. With this assumption of getting this field again, it will by some means give me additional knowledge. I will try to check it out tomorrow in one of the community college nearby if my 2 options can be reconsidered.

Work Appreciation

It is so hard to wake up early in the morning to go to work especially after coming from a holiday. Even though, I didn't do much drinking and partying with friends for the New Year. The body isn't just ready or I am not eager to work. Can't help not to report for money wise it is beneficial for me. It's better to carry a little bit than not having anything to save and before I can take my vacation.

Boss showed up at 10am. He went to my cube first asking and greeting me for a Happy New Year. He seemed not stressed. That's pretty good to see. In most days when he comes to work. I can tell that his overly stressed not just because of work but with his personal life too. I don't know what's going on with him and his girlfriend. I can't help not to wonder because sometimes if he would ask me about my personal life, he gets envy because I am secured, happy and contented. He wished to feel the same way. I pitied him in some way but I am hoping things will get better with him and his girl.

Beforehand, while Boss wasn't around. I signed up the form that I had get from the HR last week for direct deposit and the voided check. When he approached me for a greeting, I gave it to him and his surprised that I was ready for it. I just want to get it out of the way and so I don't have any hassle for next months pay check.

Noon time, silently relaxing while texting my hubby and done with my lunch. My boss came to talk to me again. He just arrived from our main office. He was very delighted to see me and told me how happy he is that the people from the main office was impressed to me. He extended his gratitude and even asking me to really stay and work with the company. He had said of giving a a better increase when the time comes. That is nice, but deep in my mind how long could that increase be? hehehe... I guess his not too comfortable that I might leave and find another job. Wendy one of the HR personnel told him to not let go of his better employee. Hmmm...that could be me and the girls...But honestly when I came to the main office last week. I didn't do nothing to really making an impression. As natural as I can be, I approached all the people there with decency and a wide smile. I listened attentively to Wendy while she's explaining to me all the benefits that the company provides with her not so called American accent perhaps Canadian. I was just being friendly and nice. To my boss, hearing a very good compliment to the main office staff give him the impression too that his a good manager. He's very appreciative of us and I would say he is really likable. There could be sometimes his off but he'd said sorry when he thinks it was too bad. He is a good boss. He is giving me a lot of credits towards my job and what I do, that's why I stayed though the job is against my will.
